What happens in our sessions together?

Our first session will be an initial assessment, during which we will discuss what led you to counseling, your goals for counseling, your history, and for me to get to know you. This first session will typically last 60-75 minutes.

Subsequent sessions will be 50 minutes. We will use our time to explore and develop coping tools, ways to reduce your symptoms, discuss your relationships and how they impact your emotions, and learn more about why you are feeling the way you do.

Sessions are available either in-person at my office in downtown Davis, CA or by video through a secure, HIPAA compliant platform.

Do you keep what we discuss confidential?

Yes, with the exception of these specific circumstances. As a mandated reporter I am legally required to report to the appropriate agency any abuse or neglect of a child, person over age 65 or dependent adult. If I develop concerns that you are a danger to yourself or others I am allowed to break confidentiality to ensure safety.

Sometimes my client and I feel it would be beneficial for me to speak to a third party, such as a psychiatrist or your primary care physician. You would then sign an authorization to release information allowing me to share information with this person. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to ask me. 

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance. I am an out-of-network provider as I am not paneled with any insurance companies. Some insurance plans will reimburse you for behavioral health benefits even with an out-of-network provider. If you contact your insurance company, they explain your benefits and the process for requesting reimbursement-please let me know if you need any assistance. Upon request, I am happy to provide you with a superbill so you can submit for possible reimbursement.

How much do sessions cost?

Initial Assessment~$210 Follow Up Sessions~$170

Payment is due at the time of our session. Credit Cards, including FSA/HSA cards, are the accepted form of payment.

What is your cancellation policy?

24-hour notice is required for all cancellations. If you need to cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment, you will be billed for the full amount of the session.
